We are a group of concerned citizens, committed to research recommend to the City of Menlo Park, CA, various goals, programs actions aimed at the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and the reversal of global warming.
Our work is divided among four focus groups, examining issues related to: Land Use Sustainable Building, Transportation, Energy/Waste Reduction, and Green Business Development. These are, in turn, supported by a Coordinating Committee and a P.R./Communications group.
Our group comprises a broad cross-section of committed passionate individuals from Menlo Park environs, including members of the local scientific, business, civic, residential and environmental communities. We are open to the public. We will announce our meeting schedule for 2008 soon.
Our first event for 2008 is a showing of the Focus the Nation Webcast-THE 2% SOLUTION.
Focus the Nation will stream a free, live, interactive webcast called THE 2% SOLUTION to schools and community meetings. Join Stanford University climate scientist, Stephen Schneider, sustainability expert Hunter Lovins and green jobs pioneer Van Jones and youth climate leaders for a discussion of global warming solutions.
Why is the webcast called THE 2% SOLUTION? Holding global warming to the low end of 3-4 degrees F will require cuts in global warming pollution in the developed countries by more than 80% below current levels by 2050. Put another way, we need to cut roughly 2% of current emission levels a year for the next forty years.
